A TRIP TO GARBI: Y12 & Y13 CAS STUDENTS TOGETHER

TO START THIS YEAR’S CAS 2013-14 WE DECIDED TO TAKE A TRIP TO GARBI

 

 

Last Friday 27^th September all the CAS students from El Plantio International School of Valencia, along with tutors and teachers set off on a trip to Garbi. The idea was to cultivate a stronger team spirit amongst students and staff.

 

Beginning in the village of SEGART, we then headed towards our final destination which was the lookout at the top of Garbi. It took us over two hours of climbing and descending and going the wrong way!! However the most important aspect of the trip was that we spent the whole day away from the school in a different environment enjoying nature, the scenery and most of all the company of students from other classes and of course teachers.

One of the most important lessons that I feel the students have learnt is that it is very important to go well prepared for hiking in the mountains, especially when the weather was really hot and there were no fountains in which to drink water. Carrying enough water really was thus essential.

Another factor that had to be considered was that students had to realise that everyone has their own pace when it comes to hiking and therefore it was important not to try and push others to keep up with yours. Team spirit was the order of the day!!

 

 

When we stopped for lunch there was solidarity amongst the group when it came to sharing out food and water as there are always some that are more scatterbrained than others when it comes to being organised on a trip!! It was a great day and fun was had by all.

This team spirit came to the fore when we started to descend as some of the group had difficulties in steep areas with loose rock. Others were patient and waited and also helped the former so that they remained calm and relaxed on the descent.

COOPERACIÓN INTERGENERACIONAL EN SAVIA-San Antonio de Benagéber

El día de hoy ha sido genial. Hemos colaborado codo con codo con nuestro tutorados. Nos hemos ayudado mutuamente a decorar el recuerdo más bonito de esta inolvidable relación: un marco de fotos totalmente reciclado. En él, nuestros residentes tutorados van a colocar la foto que nos hicimos por parejas. Para ellos va a ser un recuerdo de nuestro paso por su residencia, para nosotros va a ser un final feliz, un deseo hecho realidad, una sonrisa dentro de su mundo. Lástima que esto esté llegando a su fin, pero deseamos y estamos seguros que así será, que nuestros compañeros, el próximo año, continuen haciéndoles felices durante dos horas al mes.

Para dejar constancia de nuestra actividad, nos haría muy felices que vierais este vídeo, creemos que con él hemos  representado todo el espíritu de esta actividad y del CAS. Muchas gracias.

UNA REFLEXIÓN DESDE LA COORDINACIÓN DEL CAS

"LAS LÁGRIMAS DE TEÓFILO"

Hoy, viernes 26 de abril, nuestros alumnos de B.I. han estado en la residencia, pero esta vez, con una actividad propuesta por ellos mismos: hacer velas aromatizadas para cada uno de sus residentes tutorizados. Todo un éxito. 

Hasta aquí estas dos horas de intercambio intergeneracional pero, todo esto no hubiese dejado de ser un día normal de nuestras visitas mensuales, si no fuera porque un residente, Teófilo, nos ha dicho a su tutora Aina y a mi:   

"estoy muy contento y feliz de volveros a ver, pues no sabía que hoy veniais y ha sido toda una grata sorpresa para mi" Para a continuación romper a llorar, de alegría. Si la visita a la residencia siempre depara alguna sorpresa, ésta ha sido la mejor de todas, pues este hombre refleja con claridad el papel de nuestras alumnas y alumnos en la vida de estas personas durante estas dos horas al mes: les llenan de esperanza, les abren las almas, los motivan, los movilizan, les despiertan el interés, adormilado por la rutina diaria, por hacer algo distinto. Y no lo digo yo, si no que así se lo hace saber a ellos, Teresa, la psicóloga del centro.

Una vez más aprovecho para dar las gracias a nuestros alumnos y alumnos de B.I. por su inestimable labor con estas personas y por su trato exquisito y respetuoso para con ellos. Al fin y al cabo, cada vez que vamos son un poco más conocidos pero, a la vez, personas ajenas a su vida privada.
